Metaverse 

   Imagine a virtual world in which people live, work, shop and interact with others -- all from the comfort of their couch in the physical world. This is known as the metaverse. 

 

The metaverse is considered the next evolution of the internet. It will take many forms, including gaming, online communities and business meetings where people collaborate via a digital facsimile or avatar of themselves

    

 In the metaverse, people use avatars to represent themselves, communicate with each other and virtually build out the community. Digital currency is used to buy clothes, weapons and shielding in the case of video games as well as many other items. Users can also virtually travel through the metaverse for fun with no goals in mind using a virtual reality headset and controllers. 

     The term ‘metaverse’ was coined by Neal Stephenson in a science fiction novel ‘Snow crash’ in 1992. It is a virtual reality/augmented reality universe that helps you build social connections virtually. For the metaverse to exist, we need to have a foundation where an open network confirms what each individual owns, sells, buys and trades. This is where the blockchain comes into play, a network where thousands of developers can create all kinds of applications. At the same time, users simply need one identity, a wallet. This wallet allows them to interact with different virtual worlds, games, applications and services.
     Social media has revolutionised our world. Compared to the impact of the metaverse, social media will simply pale insignificance. It will be a whole new world that we did not know before. Our real world is moving into virtual reality, giving us many possibilities. And it is advisable that we prepare for this world today because the metaverse will usher in a new realm where people can find entertainment, as well as job opportunities.
