The Fallen Leaf - Lakshmipriya
Hanging weak
on a tree branch: green and fleshy.
It doesn’t stop being drained by chlorophyll.
The wind blew slowly.
A leaf swayed softly.
It was more fragile.
Few seconds left and it will fall.
I saw it continuing to shake.
Took my eyes to the ground,
how many leaves were scattered,
countless.
The wind blew again,
tight.
The leaves shook fast,
getting tighter,
and finally it fell.
I looked at the leaves.
Until it fell helplessly
in soil.
Oh Leaf,
teach me how to live
without hatred.
Without hostility.
Without revenge.
Oh! Leaf,
you have fallen,
you’re helpless on the ground,
but you don’t hate
who dropped you.
Falling leaves,
how did you fall
without hating the wind?
